The Chart above shown historic Spot DRAM pricing. We knew ( or at least those who observe / work in the memory industry ) DRAM price has hit the diminishing curve. Many in the late 00s or early 10s still think Desktop will come with 16GB as standard. because Memory is cheap! ( It is not ).
I know there are DRAM / Commodities cycles, but the historic low over the past 10 years has been $2.8. Nov 19 broke that trend to $2.6 but bounce back to a "normal" $3+ range. I thought it would take a long time to break $2 barrier.
DRAM hoover at above $3 since then, but then in mid 2022 dropping back to ~$2.6 for about half a year. And then [2] in December it finally collapse. Not only did it break the $2 barrier, by Jan 2023 it break through $1.5 and is now hovering at $1.3! It seems we may have a chance to even see historic $1 / GB DRAM! ( Note these are generic DRAM, not LPDDR used in Tablet of Phones )
A lot of these pricing are below cost. So it wont stay forever. Which means in terms of future BOM, cost forecast haven't changed much.
